Why do those who were picked on in high school become losers in real life?』(ホワイ・ドゥ・ゾーズ・フー・ワー・ピックド・オン・イン・ハイ・スクール・ビカム・ルーザーズ・イン・リアル・ライフ?)〔意:高校時代に虐められた人がその後の人生で負け組になるのはなぜなのだろうか?YA.pngは、なにより検索エンジンとして名高いヤフーの提供するサービスのひとつ―『ヤフー!

この質問とそれに対する返答の中には、アメリカ合衆国に特有の俗語が登場している。すなわち;

(Jock)
(Cheerleader)
(Prep)
(Nerd)

〔Those in high school that were picked on by the jocks, cheer leaders, preps, or a combination of all three ... why do the majority of those end up becomming losers in real life. They end up working the dead beat jobs, are lazy and unmotivated, usually end up getting pregnant (or knocking someone up), and never really suceed very far in life? Why is this? Why can't they just get over of being picked on and move on with their lives?〕

常に慎重にあるようになってしまう、、、 〔Because the getting picked on does a really bad number on that persons self esteem. Once that damage is done, its very hard for it to be undone. The person becomes traumatized from it, and it casues them to take fewer risks in life. Therefore putting them in lower risk situations all the time,,,〕

彼らは自らを負け犬としか見做していないので・・・ 〔In a way, they are afraid to take any risks to get ahead in life because they only see themselves as a loser...〕
〔.〕
頭が良く、やる気を充分に持ってる人だ、、 彼らはだいたい成功し、かつてのジョックたちとプレップたちをアゴで使うようになる・・・ 〔But some of them, the smart ones that are well motivated, dont end up as losers,, they usually succeed and have those same jocks and preps working for them...〕

うーん、ちょっと違うと思うのだが・・・・高校時代にジョックとかプレップとかバカの類だったのこそが、大学に進むことなく、いずれ誰かを妊娠させたりするんだよ・・・・ 〔Um, actually I've found this to be the quite opposite....The ones who are jerks, jocks, preps, in High school end up being the ones that don't go to college, end up knocking up someone, etc....〕

大学に進むためのいい成績も持ってて(イジメの理由のひとつ) 高校で虐められてた人が大成して、自分へも他人へも尊重深い人になるっていうのはよくあることなのだよ 〔The people who get picked on usually become driven to succeed and have the good grades to go to college (one reason they were teased) I find the people who were teased in High school often become stronger people and respect themselves and others〕

〔Also they tend to lead happier more fulfilled lives then those who feel its ok to look down on others.〕

〔I can't be certain how others feel, but I find it hard to believe that there are a great many people who dwell on their high school years later in life to this degree. My high school years were anything but an easy time for me, but it immediately became insignificant the moment I graduated and moved on.〕

〔There's much more to life than high school, and I'm pretty sure most people feel the same way.〕

言いたいことはわかるな・・・ 〔I know what you mean....〕

ジョックや人気者って大体がいい感じに育つし、うまくいき続けるんだよな・・・・でもな・・・・いるんだよ・・・そうじゃないのも 〔Oftent the jocks and the popular people grow up just fine and go on to be successful....but there are those that just...don't〕

〔They were smart and cool in high school. I knew a guy who was just the coolest thing in high school. He was smart, handsome...and full of himself....well into his 20's he could date anyone he wanted....he kept the same high school schedule well into his 30's....what became obvious to everyone but himself, as he declined from coolest to biggest loser, was that what is cool in high school is not cool after you grow up.〕

〔the guy i'm speaking of has finally grown up, but long after he realized he was no longer the cool teenager, he worked at a job that was so much below what he could have been....and never looked happy....〕

そんなわけで、達成に至らないのはむしろ、高校時代のかっこいいガキではなくなった自分に気づかない人たちだと思うんだな・・・・・あるいは気づくのがすごく遅いの・・・ 〔So, i think those who don't achieve are the ones that don't realize they are no longer the cool kid in high school.....or they realize too late...〕

そして高校時代の負け組たちについては・・・・ 〔Now for the high school losers....〕

同じだと思うんだ・・・・ 〔I think it's the same....〕

すごい成功を掴むのがいっぱいいる・・・ 〔many of them become very successful...〕

でもそうじゃないのもいるんだよな・・・・ 〔but those that don't....〕

自分自身を決して信じないんだよ彼らは・・・自分にいい仕事ができるだなんて、素敵な相手が見つかるだなんて信じないんだ・・・・そんで二流を・・・・・あるいは更に悪いものを選択してしまうんだ 〔they never believe in themselves...they don't believe they are good enough for the great job, the great spouse....so they take second best.....or worse〕

〔That's not entirely true because most of the time the people that you least expect end up doing something good with their life or becoming famous.〕

〔The people that were popular and superficial end up working at dead end jobs because they just went to school to show off.〕

〔At the highschool I went to the cheerleader got knocked up in college and is a single mom who works a Red Lobster (and got fat). The jock got lost his scholarship because he was a drunk, and mows lawns for money (I did that when I was 14). And as for the really popular preppy guy, Im his boss now. There is justice in the world. You just have to work hard. No one can affect how you turn out except you.〕

〔That may have some truth to it.〕

〔I don't believe everyone of them become "losers" but maybe they got some kind of complex due to being made fun of.〕

〔I was picked on in High school badly, and I am very successfully working in medicine. Most of those boneheads that picked on me are either working at Burger king or in prison. Now who is the loser?〕

〔actually i think it's the other way around.〕
〔usually the jocks in school end up low lives after high school.〕
〔all the cool kids in my school are the druggies/sluts/gangsters who failed a grade etc.〕

〔if that happens to someone, its probably because they are still surrounded by people who help convince them that they are losers and that it's just how it is.〕

〔i agree with the others i think you have it wrong. the bullies i know from high school are pumping gas or managing mc donalds. i am a CRNA making over 200k a year.〕

〔What? That's really weird because it generally is the other way around. The valedictorian ends up committing suicide or the cheerleader ends up on drugs. Usually the losers recover in college and end up way ahead in every way. For most people I know - especially my graduating class - nothing has changed - going to the reunion was like going back in time. They all talk the same way, gossip the same way, talk dirty the same way and curse. Stephen Curtis Chapman has this song where he goes "if we had a time machine would we really want to use it?" for me most definitely not. My best friend was one of the outcast and she owns her own home, is a nurse with 3 kids and happily married whereas some of the high school big shots are divorced or just as pathetic in other ways as is imaginable. For people like me, there is no point in going to the reunion and associating with such lower class type individuals - even if they were the high school popular. Maybe that's why they all enjoyed it so much - it was there only stint in stardom.〕
