『Why the hell doesn't Los Angeles have a football team?』(ホワイ・ザ・ヘル・ダズント・ロス・アンジェルス・ハブ・ア・フットボール・チーム？)〔意：ロサンゼルスにフットボールチームがありやがらないのってどうしてなんだよ？〕は、なにより検索エンジンとして名高いヤフーの送るサービスのひとつ―『ヤフー!知恵袋』の本家版―すなわちヤフー！アンサーズ(Yahoo! Answers)に投稿された、ビーバス(Beavis)という名の利用者による質問である。

米国西海岸に佇むこの国第二の規模の大都市―ロサンゼルス。

その部門を『アメリカンフットボール』(Football (American))に定めたうえで2008年の4月28日に放たれたこの質問は、その投稿者の定め置いた題がそこに全てを述する通り、ロサンゼルスにアメリカンフットボールの代表チームが存在しないのはどうしてなのか・・・そのような問いを示した。

ちゃうわい。より正確に言えばだな、イングランド第二の都市にサッカーチームが長年存在しながら、客がまるで集まらんことから、匙を投げた経営陣がよそのもっと金を生みそうなとこに消えてくっていう、まあそんなんと似た感じだ。 〔No, it would be like the second biggest city in England having a soccer team for a number of years, and no one showing up to the games, and then the owners across the league deciding that there was more money elsewhere.〕

2011～2012年頃の仕上がりが予定されてたロスのフットボールスタジアムの計画はあったな。チームの編成ができたらっていう条件があったんだろうな。なんで無いのか・・・そりゃわからんな。とりあえず似たような状況の街はたくさんあるよ。 〔I saw plans for a football stadium in L.A. that could be up by the 2011-2012 season I believe if they can draw a team there. I don't see why they shouldn't have one... but many cities feel that way about sports teams.〕

何度も何度も試みてるけど常に失敗に終わってるんだよ。フットボール向きの街じゃないんだよね。ちょっと下のほうにチャージャーズとレイダーズがあるもんだから何度やろうが失敗に終わる。ロスにフットボールが入ってこんよう陳情活動を始めるつもりだよ俺は。 〔Because they have tried countless number of times and have failed every time. ロスにフットボールチームがあったところで、それが尊重を受けることはない。そもそも見に行く者がおらんだろうし、スタジアムの存在自体がどうでもいいって扱いを受けることになる。勝てんかったら暴動もんだろうよ。たとえロスがNFLにとっての金の卵だったとしようが、重要な点を言えば、そもそもロスにNFLチームなんぞ似合わんちゅうことだ。 〔When LA had football teams, they didn't respect them. They wouldn't show up, didn't care for the stadium, and when they didn't win they would riot it up. Even though LA would be a huge money maker for the NFL, the fact of the matter is, LA isn't suited for an NFL team.〕

チームを持つに値しない理由が2つある。 〔They don't deserve a team for 2 reasons.〕
1．NFLレベルのスタジアムがロスには存在しない。 〔1. LA doesn't have an NFL quality stadium.〕

2．チャージャーズ（サンディエゴに移動）やらレイダーズ（オークランドに移動）やらラムズ（セントルイスに移動）への支持もまるでなかった。 〔2. They didn't support the Chargers (moved to San Diego), the Raiders (moved back to Oakland), or the Rams (moved to St. Louis).〕

Ownerさんに100%同感。ロスって気まぐれな街なんだよね。自分とこが電撃的な勝利を収めるとかでもない限りはチームのファンなんてやんない気まぐれな住民。負け始めになったらすぐに客席ガラガラになんだろな。最後までぶっ通しで試合観るファンもいないっしょ・・・・ってまあそんな感じで。 〔I agree 100% with Owner. LA is a flighty city, with flighty people who wouldn't support their team unless they were dynamite winners out of the gate, and as soon as they started losing the stands would be empty. Plus fans would never stay for the whole game. They'd show up late, get a beer or 10, and leave early to beat traffic..and their buzz....that's how LA-ins do it.〕
