Most people under 30 speak at least a little English and you won't have a problem, say, in a bar or dance club. But grocery shopping or doing "official" things (post office, transportation and so on) may be tougher. That said, the University of Debrecen is generally reknowned throughout the world for having the best course for the study of the Hungarian language. (So much so, they've even opened a branch in Budapest!) I took a three week course from them (I already knew some Hungarian) and absolutely loved it. In three weeks, you can learn enough to get around reasonably well . . . and the Hungarians would love you for it. Consider it if you have time, but otherwise you'll be fine.}}<br/>
