『IS 24 too old to start modelling?』(イズ・トゥエンティー・フォー・トゥー・オールド・トゥー・スタート・モデリング？)〔意：モデル業を始めるのが24歳って年取り過ぎかな？〕YA.pngは、検索エンジンポータルとして有名なヤフーの提供するサービスのひとつ―『ヤフー！知恵袋』の本家版―すなわちヤフー！アンサーズ(Yahoo! Answers)に投稿された、ダンシング・エンジェル(Dancing angel)という利用者による質問である。

その部門を『美と様式』(Beauty & Style)へと定めたうえで2008年の8月17日に放たれたこの質問は、その投稿者の定めた題の通り、いわゆるモデル〔ファッションモデル〕の仕事を始めるにあたって、24歳という年齢は『年の取り過ぎ』にあたるだろうか―そんな問いを提示した。

わたし24歳。スタイル抜群。身長は170センチで、今のところ高級服のブティックでモデルをしています。ひとりの女性から至急の予約が入るくらい写真もすっごく良好。その女性は服飾の世界に20年くらいいる人で、わたしのことをこれまで会ってきた中で最高に写真写りのいい人物の一人だって言ってくれてる！今すっごく興奮状態です。どこかのモデル事務所に入ったほうがいいよって言われました。 〔I am 24, in great shape, I am 5'8 and recently modelled for a gorgeous clothing boutique. The pictures were so good that the woman wants to book me again ASAP and also she has had about 20 years in designing clothes and she says I am one of the most photogenic people she has ever met! I am truly excited now. She told me that I need to apply at some modelling agencies.〕

んなことないって！アメリカズ・ネクスト・トップモデルは27歳が上限年齢だよ。『若さと新鮮』を求める人もいるけど、いい体型してて見た目がいいなら、誰かが気に入ってくれるしいいチャンスあるよ :) 〔nope! on america's next top model the age limit is 27. some people want "young and fresh" but if your in good shape and you look good then you have a good chance for someone who would like you :)〕

そんなことはないよ。ショーを歩いてる女の子たちはほとんどが23〜24歳なんだから・・それとぶっちゃけて言うと・・・あの人たちってみんな30歳に見えるんだよねどうしても・・・18歳の人すら25歳に見える・・・爆 ってわけで自分にとってはそんなの関係ないね。 〔no most of the girls on the show are 23-24..and to be honest with you...they all look 30 anyways...even the girls who are 18 look like 25...LOL so i dont see what diff it makes.〕

ちょっとばかり事務所をたらい回しにされるかもしれないけど、モデル業ってものをほんとに大好きでいれば、みんながみんなあなたのことを年取り過ぎだなんて言うとはわたしは思わないな。 〔You might have to look around a bit for an agency, but if you truly love modeling then I don't think that anyone can tell you that you're too old.〕
