今ちょうどシードにリーチ／ピアに関してのことを勉強しております。 〔I have spend the last hour trying to understand the whole seed, leecher / peer story.〕
ところが無念ながら、僕にとっては難解に過ぎることがわかりました。 〔Unfortunately, it turned out to be far more complicated than I expected.〕
どなたかこれを単純明快に教えて頂けんものでしょうか。これら用語の意味。そしてトレントをダウンロードするにあたっての最適なシードとピアの数とは？ 〔Can someone please put it in simple words, what are these terms' meaning, and what is the better way to choose a torrent download based on the number of seeds and peers?〕

トレントのダウンロードに際しては2種類の人が存在している。ダウンロード済みのファイルのアップロードのみを行っている、これがシード。ファイルをダウンロード中で、同時に、ダウンロード済みの部位のアップロードを行ってもいる、これがピア。 〔generally in any torrent download,there are 2 types of people,seeds those are who have downloaded the file and they're just uploading,peers are those who are downloading the file and meantime they upload some parts of the file that they've downloaded already.〕
ファイルをダウンロード中で、同時のシード（アップロード）を行っていない、これの通称がリーチャー。 〔leecher is an informal name for those who don't seed(upload) the file for other peers after they've downloaded it.〕
シードとピアの数は多ければ多いほど良い。どんなトレントであろうとね。 〔In any torrent more numbers of seeds and peers are better.〕

シードとは、あるトレントのダウンロードを完了させていて、そのファイルを残したままの状態にしてるいい人のこと。それで他の人がその人からダウンロードすることができる。 〔A seed is someone who has the entire torrent already downloaded, and is nice enough to leave the file(s) there and the torrent running so that others can download from him.〕
ピアとは、あるトレントをダウンロードしている途中の段階にある人。その品を完全に持ってはいなくて、つまりは他人からそれをダウンロードしている途中の状態で、持っているところだけを同時に共有してもいる。 〔A peer is yourself and anyone else who is in the process of downloading the torrent. シード数が1を上回っている状態にさえあれば、そのダウンロードをキミは完了させることができる。ピアしか存在しないという状態にあった場合、そのファイルのある部分を持っている人が誰もいないということがあり得るため、そのファイルの完成の時を見ることができないかもしれない。ただ、これも結構あることなのだが、たとえピアしか存在しなかった場合でも、そのファイルの未完成の部位を持っているピアがどこかにいる可能性がある。つまりは『ピアのみ』であってもファイルの完成が実現することはあるというわけだ。 〔If you have 1 or more seeds, then you are guaranteed that (given time) your download will complete because all of it is available.
