その熊が子供じゃない限り、クソほどの勝機も無し。最強の人間より遥かに強いんだよヒグマはよ。あの巨大な歯と爪を抜きにしてもな。腕の一撃だけで人間の頭を吹っ飛ばしちまうんだよ。 〔Not a chance in Hell, unless the bear was a cub. A brown bear is far stronger than the strongest human, not to mention having huge teeth and claws. It could tear your head off with one blow of its paw.〕

子供らと一緒に州の祭にいたときだ。芝生の前方で司会者が言ってたんだよ。270キロの熊が柵の外に出されることになってさ、生きた熊と格闘したい方はいらっしゃいませんか、と。誰もいなかったさ。 〔I was at the state fair with my children. それから調教師が小さな熊を鎖に繋いで連れてきた。わずか70センチ程度しかない熊（四肢含む）で、爪は切り取られていた。顎を閉じるためのハーネスを着けられていた。というようにすごく可哀相な感じのその熊だったが、やがては女の子連れの一人の男が対戦を志願。180センチを超す背の高さにして、シャツを脱いだときにはすごく筋肉質なのが見て取れた。110キロはあったろうな。 〔Then a handler led a small bear by a leash to the area. 熊は観客のほうを眺めていた。やる気なしといった風体。男は熊の首のあたりに腕を回そうとした。そしたら熊は、うんざりしたような感じで、それを右手を使って振り払った。その瞬間、激しい平手打ちの音とともに、男は背中から地面に激しく打ち付けられた。そして片手で何気なしに男を押さえつける熊。男は熊が観客のほうを眺めている隙に動こうと無駄な足掻きを試みたが、近づいた熊はそのまま男の首のあたりに口を持ってゆき、噛み付こうとした。マスクがあったし噛み付けるほどに顎を開けなかったがね。青ざめてくる男（こんなのは映画でしか見たことがなかったよ）。やがて調教師が鎖で熊を連れてゆくと、起き上がった男は怯えながら逃げ去った。 〔As the bear looked at the audience, distracted, the man tried to put his arm around the bear's neck. その熊が満腹であったならば、テイクダウンすることも可能なのではなかろうか。でも食事前の熊であったならば、悲惨な結果にしかなるまい。人間など切り刻まれて肉片にされてしまうだろうな！ 〔It would all depend on whether or not you ticked the bear off. If the bear just got done eating, I assume the wrestler could take down the bear, but if it didn't eat, it would only aggravate the bear, in which the human would be cut to shreds!〕
