Imagine! Japan sings for Turkey(イマジン! ジャパン・シングス・フォー・ターキー)〔意訳：想像せよ!トルコを歌う日本〕
は、映像をもって世界を結ぼう―そのような趣旨を擁する祭事―『パンゲア・デイ』の一環として制作され、2008年の4月5日(日本時間)にユーチューブ(YouTube)に発表された映像である。
インドの国歌をケニヤが歌う『イマジン! ケニヤ・シングス・フォー・インディア(Imagine! Kenya sings for India)』、レバノンの国歌をオーストラリアが歌う『イマジン! オーストラリア・シングス・フォー・レバノン(Imagine! Australia sings for Lebanon)』、アメリカ合衆国の国歌をフランスが歌う『イマジン! フランス・シングス・フォー・ユーエスエー(Imagine! France sings for USA)』、―これら3つの映像と同日の公開となったこの映像作品は、その題名が示す通り、トルコの国歌を『日本』が歌うというもの。
ここに言うところの『日本』とはおそらく、『日本人』および『日本的なもの』と解釈され得る。

演出
全長1分21秒。制作陣の名簿にずらりと並ぶ日本人の名前。その内容は、三味線を弾く2人の男を背後に携えた女性―不思議な装束にその身を包んだ女性が、灯火のゆらめく祭壇のような舞台の上にてトルコ共和国の国歌―『独立行進曲』―を歌い奏でるというもので、同日に公開された他の3作とは明らかに違う雰囲気―濃厚な神秘性をおびた演出となっている。
『トルコ』と『日本』
この映像の監督がこの二国を選択するに至った理由は、この二国間にある歴史的な友情を鑑みてのことであったという。歴史的な友情―それは、19世紀も半ばの頃に刻まれた『エルトゥールル号』にまつわる友愛の情のことだそうで、『このビデオについて(About This Video)』の欄にはそれについての詳説が据えられてもいる。

そんなこのビデオは、その公開からおおよそ6日後にあたる2008年4月11日(日本時間)の時点で、20万を超える閲覧数、そして1000を超えるコメントを擁し、話題の動画(Most Discussed)、コメントの多い動画(Most Responded)、人気の動画(Most Viewed)、お気に入り登録の多い動画(Top Favorites)、評価の高い動画(Top Rated)・・・などなど、その数20を超える栄誉(Honor)の数々を獲得してもいる。
乱舞する数多のコメント
公開からわずか6日間のうちに1000を超える勢いで寄せられたそのコメントの数々は、大部分がその内容への賞賛と感心の言葉で占められている。
ただ―時折ギリシャ人またはアルメニア人と思われる人々によるトルコ攻撃、そして突然過去の歴史の話を始める人物―おそらくはギリシャ人―が散見されるが、もはや完全な雑音としてすぐさま沈んでゆくという状況だ。
