現状で言えば、あの男を止められる者なんぞ思い当たらない。秀逸なテイクダウン、非凡なる打撃、非常に優れた打たれ強さ、そして有り余るほどのスピードと精度、これらの持ち主でないと無理だろうな。 〔And as of right now, I don't know who can stop him. But it would have to be someone with very good takedowns, better then average striking, a very good chin, and a lot of speed and precision.〕

寝技で打つことのできる誰か。マット・セラを見ろ。ジーエスピーとの第一戦で奴に可能性を予測した者など誰もいなかった。ジョージに攻め入り破り、そしてあの夜に王者としてオクタゴンを後にした。ジーエスピーがタコ助だとか、リョートが狩られ待ちの熟れた果実だとか、そんなことを言ってるわけではないぞ。オーティズ戦のときのリョートはまさにロケットの先端だった。私が言っているのは、だ。オクタゴンに足を踏み入れ、一発のパンチ、一瞬の失敗、咄嗟の判断、そしてタオルを頭に掛けつつ屈辱のうちにリングを去ることが、いつでも、誰にでも起き得るということだ。 〔Anybody that lands a well place hit. リョートを倒せる奴は2人いると思う： 再戦があればの話だが、フォレスト・グリフィンとラシャド・エヴァンスだ。フォレストは全方位の選手であるし、ラシャドマチダ戦において、ラシャドがノックアウトを受けるまでにかなりの時間を稼いだのが見て取れた。次の一戦では勝てると思う。フォレストはいささか不安定ではあるが、可能性は誰よりも高いと思うな。 〔I think two guys can beat Lyoto: Forrest Griffin and Rashad Evans if he gets his rematch. Forrest is an awesome all around fighter and after watching the Rashad Machida fight it took awhile for Rashad to get knocked out so i think Rashad can come out the next time and beat him. Forrest is a little shaky but i think he has a better chance than anyone else〕

ぶっちゃけると、ただ成り行きを見守っておくしかなかろう。勝者もいずれは敗れ去る、これ普遍の真理のひとつなり。興味深いのは、マチダの敗戦を見たがってる人がどれだけいるんだろうかということ。空手が学ぶに有意な流儀だってことを彼は証明してきてるからね。皮肉なもんだよまったくもって。総合格闘技への適応のために彼が他の流儀も学んだことは確実だろうけど、それは長期間にわたって訓練を受けている本物の空手学徒らも同じなのだよ・・・敵を理解し知ること、それが敵の打倒を可能にする。マチダは偉大なる格闘家であり、その空手の熟達を防御に活かしている。戦略の体得者たるマチダと渡り合えるまでの進化を果たしてどれだけの総合格闘家が成しうるか、これは見ものだぜ。 〔Honestly we will have to wait and see. What I find interesting is how many people want to see Machida beaten because he has proven that Karate is a viable art form to study. That is the irony of it all. Sure he has studied other art forms to adapt his skills to MMA but in reality all authentic Karate students who train for a long period will learn this same lesson...understanding and know your opponent so you can defeat them. Machida is a great fighter and uses his mastery of Karate defensively which is what it was meant for. It will be interesting to see how MMA people evolve to deal with a master of strategy like Machida.〕
