『What are some common stereotypes of French people?』(ワット・アー・サム・コモン・ステレオタイプス・オブ・フレンチ・ピープル？)〔意：ありがちなフランス人のイメージって？〕は、なにより検索エンジンとして名高きヤフーの提供するサービスのひとつ―『ヤフー！知恵袋』の本家版―すなわちヤフー！アンサーズ(Yahoo! Answers)に投稿された、ストレンジ・デザイン(Strange Design)という名の利用者による質問である。

その部門を『社会と文化』(Society & Culture)に定めたうえで2006年の6月11日に放たれたこの質問は、その投稿者の定め置いた題がそこに全てを述べる通り、ありがちな『フランス人のステレオタイプ』といえばどのようなものが挙げられるか―そのような問いを、フランスの血を引いているという投稿者が提示した。

事実はというと、2年前にフランス行ったんだけど、フランス人っていい人たちばっかだったし、礼儀正しかった。ほほ笑みかければほほ笑み返してくれる。私が置き忘れた上着を私に渡すだけのためにレストランを精算してきてくれた人までいた。一方で、あっちで出くわしたアメリカ人ってみんな無礼だった。なんでなんだろうね。 〔The truth is, when I went to France two years ago, most of the French people there were very nice and curteous. If you smile at them, they smile back. One man even came running out of a restaurant to bring me my jacket that I had left in there. All of the americans I came across were rude. Go figure?〕
